Chile's state-owned mining company Codelco and Microsoft have signed an 18-month agreement to explore joint initiatives in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and automation. The partnership aims to make mining operations safer, more efficient, and sustainable by focusing on AI-driven decision-making and process automation.
Key areas of collaboration will include intensive data use, autonomous operations, and strengthening cybersecurity. The agreement includes a framework for joint governance and envisions both companies testing new solutions and sharing international expertise.
