India's exports of computer software and services grew 11% to $222 billion in 2024-25, up from $200 billion the previous year. The largest component was IT Software and Services at $147 billion, while Engineering Services was the fastest-growing sub-sector.
The United States is the dominant export destination, accounting for $117.43 billion or 52.9% of the total. The United Kingdom is the second-largest market, followed by Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The main topics covered are the overall export growth figures, the breakdown of export sub-sectors, and the key geographic markets for these services.
The export of computer software and services, including ITeS and BPO, increased by 11% on a year-over-year basis to $222 billion in 2024-25, the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council said on Tuesday.
The exports were at $200 billion in 2023-24, according to the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC).
"Exports of Computer Software and Services, including ITeS and BPO, reached $222 billion in 2024-25, an 11% jump over the $200 billion recorded in the previous year," ESC said.
ESC Chairman, Veer Sagar, said IT Software and Services alone account for $147 billion, about 66.2 per cent, of the total exports.
"Engineering Services crossed $11 billion, the fastest-growing sub-sector at 13.99%. BPO Services added $58 billion," Sagar said.
ESC, Chairman for Global Outreach, Sandeep Narula, said that the United States remains by far the largest buyer, taking in $117.43 billion worth of Indian software, which works out to 52.9% of total exports.
"The UK is a distant second at $34.41 billion. Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands round out the top five. These are not easy markets to win. Holding that kind of share in the US and UK, year after year, says something about the quality and reliability of what Indian firms deliver," Narula said.
