According to a report, Apple's rumored foldable iPhone will feature an iPad-style interface for side-by-side app viewing, but it will not run existing iPad apps. The device is expected to have a large inner display and a smaller outer display, with a design potentially resembling two iPhone Airs.

Gurman also reports that the outer display will be around the size of a small iPhone. The inner display will reportedly come with a wider aspect ratio, similar to Google’s first-generation Pixel Fold, but not foldable flagships currently on the market, like the Pixel Fold 10 or Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Though the updated layout could make multitasking easier, Gurman reports that the folding iPhone won’t run existing iPad apps. Still, Apple is reportedly trying to take advantage of the phone’s larger screen real estate by updating its “core” apps with a sidebar on the left side of the screen. It will also give developers the ability to make the iPhone versions of their eapps more iPad-like, according to Gurman.
Instead of using Face ID, Apple’s foldable could integrate Touch ID into the device’s side button, as the “front panel is too thin to accommodate the Face ID sensor array,” Gurman reports. That means in place of the pill-shaped housing for the front-facing camera and Face ID, Apple will reportedly add a small-hole punch camera instead. Gurman has previously reported that the foldable could look like two iPhone Airs stuck together.
Even without the pill-shaped notch, Gurman reports that the folding iPhone will still include Apple’s Dynamic Island feature, which lets users keep tabs on real-time events. The device will also reportedly have two rear cameras and a price tag of around $2,000.
