Oura has acquired the startup Doublepoint to integrate its gesture-control technology, which uses AI and biometrics to interpret small hand movements, into Oura's smart rings. This acquisition is intended to accelerate Oura's vision for ambient AI experiences combining voice and gestures.
The company is also experiencing significant growth, having sold 5.5 million rings and being valued at approximately $11 billion, with the overall smart ring market seeing a major increase in shipments. As part of the deal, Oura gains Doublepoint's Helsinki-based team of AI architects to help design future wearable experiences.
